I have e a 00 Mercury 90hp ELPT 2 stroke. s/n ot087666. I am paranoid about possible failure of the oil injection system. Is it feasible to install some kind of oil pressure switch in the oil delivery line so that if oil pressure drops an alarm is set off thus gving the operator time to shut down the motor before substantial damage? I'd the think that the most difficult thing would be to find a pressure switch that would fit a T in the pressure line.

No, That is a very good system just maintain it. Replace your waterpump regularly and make sure the lines are not old and brittle. But most of all buy a good factory manual. If you really want to get rid of it go to pre-mix.

Tks Scott. I assume by lines you are talking about the oil lines/tubes/hoses, these are the same ones that deliver fuel to the carbs. Surpsingly, those hoses have not become brittle during my 20 years of ownership. One time I wanted to replace them with a concern about ethanol but I was not able to find a supply of that hose material. Fortunately, ethanol free fuel is becoming common now.
