Oil pump on 96 135 merc

I have had the oil pump gear break twice<br />since I bought the motor they repaired it once under waranty two years ago now it has happened again today is anybody else having this problem

Yes, v-6 mercs have failed oil gears...some times from bad plastic gear.....sometimes from poor installation of gear...and sometimes from oil seal in oil pump coming out and rubbing on the pump driver.....sometimes cause #2 cylinder fries and trash gets in gear...gotta remember merc has been using this setup since 1984.....lotta motors runnin around out ther with no problems....bottom line is you gotta fix it or mix it!
