i have an older outboard, 1953 scott atwater 10hp, and it leaaks oil after use through a weep hole just above the oil fill plug. correct me if i'm wrong please but is this just spent oil? i'd say after a days usageit leaks approx. 1/4 to 1/2 half ounce maybe less. is this normal?, or is it something i should be concerned about? the oil is a rich black color. motor is a 2cylinder 2 stroke. please help...

Everybody in this "green" age worries about oil coming out the drain holes. Nobody ever even gave it a second thought back in '53, when it was considered normal.

its not that i'm really worried about the pollution part, i'm just trying to make sure that everything is o.k with the motor. i was thinking maybe i needed to replace a seal.

Normal condition - you can tell if you need new seals by draining the lower unit oil. If it is milky, you have water intrusion into the lower unit. If it amber colored and clear, you're ok.
