I have a 1987 90hp Johnson which has a rattle / knock that I have been attempting to resolve http://forums.iboats.com/showthread.php?t=311897 Other than I slight bit of play at the flywheel I haven't been able to figure it out. Got sidetracked for a few weeks and I'm just coming back to it now. I was out in the garage last night and noticed oil /sludge seeping out from the cover beneath the powerhead. It was suggested that the rattle may be caused by a bad exhaust gasket. Could the seepage also indicated this??? What is involved in changing this gasket? Does the powerhead need to be removed?
