Hi Can anyone give me any advise on the best oil to use for the following engine, I was thinking 25w ?40w but others may have a different opinion.

The engine is a 460 big block with twin 4 barrel 750 Holleys and a mild cam with a panther jet drive, the boat is not used for racing etc

Re: oil selection for a 460 big block

my opionion - with a roller cam, any decent oil. I believe the current grade for dino oil is API SM IILSAC GF-4. with a non-roller (flat tappet) cam, something with zinc in it. I run Rotella T for diesels (still has some zinc). current grade for that is API CJ-4. then again, there is the whole synthetic range. in the synthetics, I prefer Amsoil.

you will find that opinions on oil vary from person to person and no two are alike.
