I'm buttoning up some things on my 1995 baja islander 208 with 7.4l after an extensive stringer and transom repair. The problem im having is while the engine is running the oil pressure gauge pretty much hangs around just below 40 psi and only moves slightly (maybe a few psi) if revving up to 3500. 2 years ago I replaced the sender for the buzzer/alarm, this is located port side near where the oil filter relocater is.
Yesterday I removed what I thought was the gauge sender located on starboard side (the one with the white nipple pictured) and no oil came out, even if the engine was running. I hooked up my manual gauge started the engine and didn't get any pressure on the manual gauge. Whats weird is the gauge on the dash was still reading 40 psi. To confirm I do have oil pressure I removed sender for the buzzer and got 35-65 psi depending on rpm. Is there something I'm missing? Where should the senders be located on a 7.4l and what is this one with the white nipple for?
