I'm buttoning up some things on my 1995 baja islander 208 with 7.4l after an extensive stringer and transom repair. The problem im having is while the engine is running the oil pressure gauge pretty much hangs around just below 40 psi and only moves slightly (maybe a few psi) if revving up to 3500. 2 years ago I replaced the sender for the buzzer/alarm, this is located port side near where the oil filter relocater is.

Yesterday I removed what I thought was the gauge sender located on starboard side (the one with the white nipple pictured) and no oil came out, even if the engine was running. I hooked up my manual gauge started the engine and didn't get any pressure on the manual gauge. Whats weird is the gauge on the dash was still reading 40 psi. To confirm I do have oil pressure I removed sender for the buzzer and got 35-65 psi depending on rpm. Is there something I'm missing? Where should the senders be located on a 7.4l and what is this one with the white nipple for?

what you have pictured is a knock sensor

the oil pressure sender is back on the motor by the distributor

Thanks for the help. I didn't think a carbed engine would have many sensors. Should the second oil sendor be on the port side as well? I looked around a good bit last night but it was dark. Ill search again tomorrow

The oil sender can be on the port side where the filter would be or remoter filter attaches. The sender can also be on a Tee fitting with the oil pressure switch. If oil sender is on port side the switch is below the distributor.

You would have a TBV ignition with knock module. When reinstalling the knock sensor don't over torque, and don't run the wire going to sensor along side of plug wires

The oil pressure senders were usually sorta cone shaped with a single wire. On my 4.3LX, it was on the starboard rear.
