Based upon my 90 of a later model year, I'd say no. Purpose is to short to the engine block (battery -) when you have a low oil condition in your tank closing the circuit on the horn and dash light if equipped. Only down side is remembering to keep oil in the tank seems to me. Can't imagine what other use.
