oill leak prop area

i am trying to bring a 1991 merc 25hp back to life and got it started for a bit....did not put in gear but ran it for about a minute....i now have oil dripping out of the prop area....any ideas on what is wrong?

FYI i did change lower end oil and all look good

When my 1993 40 did that it was a bad propshaft seal. Get a manual if you dont already have one and its a pretty straight forward do it yourself job. You may want to run it a bit longer to see if it clears up though, could just be fogging or 2 stroke oil dumped in for extended storage coming out of the exhaust.

great....thank you so much...my exact thoughts on waiting it out....now i just need to figure out how to keep her running...im having some issues with the float

if it's not gear oil it's likely that you carbs need an overhaul - too much fuel from the needle valves not seating properly .
