OK 2 use standard 3.5 V4 pistons in 135/140s?

The mid-70s 135s used a piston with a high gas-loaded top ring, which I think is no longer available. Anyone know if it's OK to use the standard 3.5" crossflow piston here (e.g., Wiseco 3073 series)? <br /><br />Also interested in same question for 125 crossflow(1st 3.5" OMC, 1971 & 72).<br /><br />Thanks!

The 3173 piston is used from 1974 on. The 1973 OMC V4 115/135 uses a 3174 series. The 85's use different pistons.<br /><br />Good luck!
