We have decided to take it to the shop and I will doing that this afternoon but I just have a question. One when my buddies took it out they said they hit a couple of good waves and that is when it shutdown. Now with that being said is there anyway that the motor could have jumped time? I say that becuase when I was looking at it the other day I noticed a little bar about 2in long that connected to the bottome of the flywheel plate and the idel piece. I don't know what the bar is called but it was hangging not connected the the flywheel plate, it connects with a nylon balljoint. The nylon is broken and will not snap back into the bottom of the flywheel piece and I notice when the motor turns that plate shifts a good bit. The plate I am taking about is where the stator and stuff bolts to. I am just woundering if that being broken could have made the motor jump time and the motor have no spark becuase it is not timed right. Is that a stupid idea or is it worth telling the mechanic?

Thank You
Wade

By all means, TELL him. Clamming up is like going to the doctor for a physical and not telling him you can't pee. Then you die of prostate cancer. What is with us guys, anyway?

I know what you mean. Its just that the boat ran fine and then it took a couple of waves and it stops.

sound like it's part of the link & sinc linkage.

That little bar is the timer base linkage and it has to be attached. Get a new plastic clip and put it back on and that will most probably fix your problem.
Do it yourself for less than $5
If you still have no spark look for loose, frayed, or broken wires especially ground (black) wires and the black wire with the yellow stripe. Check the ignition switch for loose wires too..

Ok, I just got a call from the boat guy and he told me that he fixed that linkage and noticed that the timing base is stuck to the flywheel. What does that mean and is there a cheaper fix then a new timing base? He is going to work on it for another hour and take the flywheel off and see if there is something hanging it up and he is going to call me. Any help or advice would be great on this issue if anybody has ran into this.

Thanks
Wade
