Ok More advice?

2102. My bilge pump works fine but the auto float/switch doesn't work. I thought I'd test it so I put the plug in. opened up the access hatch and pit water in the bilge. I put ALOT of water in the bilge. the pump never kicked on until I flipped it on. then it pumped the bilge dry. obviously I need a new bilge pump or switch.. Any advise on doing this?

Assuming that it is the typical float switch . . . you could give it one last chance by manually lifting the float as far as it will go to see if it kicks in the pump.

Also, did it ever work? If not, it is a remove possibility that it is not wired directly to the battery and therefore is only getting power when you turn it on via the dashboard switch.

hmm.. didn't think about the first..
Yep it did work at one time.. course the last time I tested it like this was about 3 years ago. It wasn't as important then as I didn't keep it in the water.. Now I plan on having it bottom painted and kept in a wet slip for a period of time.

Float switches wear out. I've replaced most all of them in my project boats .

any idea if the float switch is separate from the bilge pump in this boat or built into the bilge. If separate any hints on where it's located at?

Most have a separate switch screwed to a block under the engine.

On the 1802, you access the switch and pump via the fuel tank panel in the motor well. I know the OP has long had his question answered, but in case another comes along. And, yes, they are separate.
