so i bought an 88 Sunbird with a 3.0L OMC I/O and knew it had a cracked block. I guess the previous owner didnt winterize or whatever. Its my first boat and even if it needed a short block I wasnt worried. I just got it running for the first time since ive had it, before it ran no water in the oil, now there is. So im searching for a short block for it. Can anyone tell me how to find out if its a ford or GM? I just put points and a condenser on it and it took some from a chevy, and it looks like a chevy carb, but when i called my mech, he was at a loss about a 3.0 L chevy block. I just wanna get it out soon. Anyone got any helpful advice? Thanks.

3.0L is a GM motor but it is not a car motor. You will need to get a marine engine.

these engines are quite common, so you should have no problem finding one. good luck.
