How did I prove it to myself finally, you ask? Because the "New Release" this weekend at the movie theater is a flick titled, "Super 8" that's about a town, evidently, that has a close encounter type thing with an alien creature. All of that sounds innocent enough, however, the fact that it's a "period film" set in 1979 has proven to me that I'm getting old. The story centers around some Middle School kids and since I was in the 8th grade in 1979, I find myself gravitated towards going to see it. Couple that with the verbage "period film" and that's all the evidence we need. OH, and throw in the fact that my knees, back, ankles, neck and one hip hurts just sitting here typing this nonsense thread and there you have it.

I suppose it does beat the alternative though.........;)

You say you are "gravitated" to go see it........Do you remember one night when all of a sudden bright lights lit up your car? And the next day you heard of cattle being mutilated by some kind of ray from a space craft?
People like me from the 70's better go see it.....

Or... have the incessant urge to build a geographical landmark which you've never seen before, out of your mashed potatoes? :D

And you know your getting older when you went to the drive in for the first release of star wars and planet of the apes.

Hah! I was going to jump on his case but you beat me. I guess age is kind of relative. The oldest I ever was in my entire life was my 30th birthday. I figured life was pretty much over. Fortunately, I started getting younger a few years after that and now I'm about 12 (or so). Maybe more like 16 or 17, hard to tell.

Anyway, I was gong to tell the OP that if you think all that stuff hurts now, wait another 20 years or so.

Stone hedge has the mashed potato thing beat.....Anyhow, it is best to wear your PPE .....Tin foil hat, and fashion your hair to resemble a 70's mullet.

Some of you guys are really, really old........

For the record, it wasn't a bad movie. However, at the $40.00 it cost my wife and I to go see it, including 1 small popcorn, 1 medium soda and 1 small soda, I wish I would've waited for the DVD. Because, I could've bought it AND put $30.00+ in gas in the boat!!!!!
What the heck are these movie theaters thinking?????? Now this is "age-telling", but when I was a kid, I saw Smokey and the Bandit like 8 times for a TOTAL of $8.00!!!! Ticket = $.50, Soda = $.25, Popcorn = $.25. Now I'm sure there's some of you that have no idea what those denominations actually are, but they are all 3 LESS than $1.00

I know: I used to go to the Saturday mantinee for $0.25, and it was usually a double feature with a cartoon. We are getting ripped off (or very old).
