ok to use automotive ignition coil on my merc ?

been trying to figure it out for a little while, but getting no spark out of the ignition coil

i have a 72' mercury 650 65hp 2stroke with thunderbolt ignition

the ignition coil seems to be dead, I have a couple spare automotive ignition coils, does anyone know if it's ok to swap those on ? is the merc ignition coil I have an internal resistor or external ?

if anyone knows, would be superb!

just used an ignition coil off my old nissan 240sx motor - ka24e, works great.

That's great news. Please post once in a while so that we can keep up with how well the motor is doing. It would be very helpful to find alternative parts to the expensive and hard-to-come-by Mercury parts.

Those merc coils are likely avail from sierra and others. I would think they would be pretty cheap.
