Back in October like 15th thru 23rd I had this horrendous problem I created for myself by deciding to tweak my low speed carb screws because during the drought and subsequent heat wave of 90 days of temps over 100F my engine would die after a run on the lake and in an attempt to go from the dock to the trailer (drive on) I had a problem keeping it running long enough to get it in gear and "move out".
"SPRKY" was the first to tell me that I was chasing ghosts in thinking that my problem was my CDI/CDM's (whatever you want to call them) and he said that he would sit back and laugh his "hiney" off watching me buy new (ignition) modules when that wasn't my problem. He said my problem was carb tuning........ Well that settled with me and I started thinking about it.
Then CharlieB talked about tweaking carb low speed adjustments from what the manual said to what the engine wanted with adjustments as small as the width of the adjusting screwdriver, rather than a quarter turn per adjustment.
Well I spent several days on the driveway with the muffs and with my timing light telling me that my ignition was working as expected, that I needed to get the fuel/air mix right I did the best I could to get her running right. Oh and while there I checked the WOT timing advance and the idle timing advance and they were in spec.

Well today, my sweetie and I braved a blustering Norther with high winds and cold temperatures, with problems associated with drought conditions and low water levels on Texas lakes, making launch and loading a real problem, and I did as CharlieB suggested. We backed the boat down while still on the trailer and got the engine in adequate water and I went through what he recommended as to checking if your low speed jets were right, could it take throttle, could it attempt to push the trailer/truck up the ramp.
Couple of the "screw driver thickness" tweaks and it seemed right.
Took her out and WALLA. Got my 48.5 mph with 450# of passengers back and got the hole shot, got the positive response from the holes I drilled in my prop to help my hole, got the overdrive engine load up when the holes sealed off and folks it just doesn't get better than this.
So, to all you guys that helped me pull my head out (of the sand....grin) my thanks.
