I have an old '77 115hp evinrude. My daughter has run it quite a bit.

She has said something about how "it doesn't work good in reverse".

I have the boat back in my hands now, and wonder what "doesn't work good in reverse" can mean.

Is this something not to complicated/expensive a shop can repair?

Looking at lower units expense, and having 'em put on, I'm not sure but what it might be better to repair it as it is.

First off, what do you mean by "it does't work good in reverse"? Does it click, bang, hard to shift, rev up but doesn't move, need more input.

I don't know. I'd have to run it and see what it's doing. I'll run it out in a couple weeks. I'm happy to have it back, and want to use it a lot.

Just assume worst case for scenario.

Worst case, lower unit explodes and you have to get another one.
