Old 4.3 looking to swap to 4.3 vortec

I need a new engine for my boat. I currently have the older 4.3...but its no good. Id like to upgrade to the Vortec 4.3 . I know I will need a new intake manifold and water pump. Is there any other things Ill need to buy before I decide to do this swap. Thanks and im new to all of this so bare with me please.

Excellent. I see 2 different options for Vortecs on Ebay. They have before 1997 and 1997 and up. Would it matter which one I got and what kinda performance increases would I be looking at? 30hp or so? Noticable?

Ayuh,....

Before 1996, they were Called Vortec motors,...
But,....
The Fast Burn Vortec Heads weren't Intro'ed til 1996,...
Which is what We now call Vortec motors.....

The Vortec Heads are worth about 20hp....

Hi.

Summitt Racing has a 4.3L marine. Check it out, it may be what you are looking for. 260 horsepower if I recall.

You may want to look at these,new not rebuilt.Probably a much better price than Summit Racing.
I know a couple people who have bought engines from them and are very happy.

Just looked,Summits motors are 3000 bucks! Yikes! They do give you the intake manifold..big deal..
