Good Day iBoats

I have an old chrysler 45hp from the 60's. I'm having trouble replacing the steering system. The Boat is set up for a single cable teleflex system and the motor was hooked up with a pulley steering system. The problem I'm having is how exactly does the motor hook up to the steering cable. I need to get parts so any help would be appreciated. Pics could be very useful if you have a similar setup. I will try to post pics of mine as well when I get a chance. Thanks all!

If your engine does not have the through the transom clamp cable attachment (7/8 inch holes in the front of the transom clamps) --and it will not if it is early '60s-- then you must buy a transom clamp assembly for the steering cable. The end of the cable attaches to the nose of the lower pan--projection with (usually) three 3/8 holes. A two way joint (swivel) bar is used to connect to the engine.

Connecting the cable directly without the two way swivel will result in the nose breaking off if the engine kicks up. All these parts are made and sold by Teleflex and others. You should be able to find them on iboats store too.
