Just picked up a 1970 19' fish n ski made by Marine Products Inc. Tarpon Springs Florida. I have done some research online to find absolutely nothing about this company.

Was wondering if anyone knows if they went out of business or changed their name. I would like to find out some of the specs for the boat such as weight and original engine.

Great site!

Scoop, thanks for the info. When that boat was made they had no standardized hull id system. Two States have thrown their hands up trying to register this boat. I have had the cops out three times to verify that it has numbers. :)

waffle, i can sympithise with ya, i got one of them boats in my backyard. a 72 trisonic. 72 and prior, just like ya say, didn't require a HIN. i've never seen my exact boat online anywhere. i've never seen anything of value or facts written about it anywhere either. i have a boat cap. plate inside and that's what i got. i guess in the end. it really isn't all that relivant that i know about my trisonic. i got along fine not knowin much about the boat itself. what was important was that it had a 165mercruiser with a 1 drive. used that info a lot....

i was able to register that boat with a sellers bill of sale + used the engine block number for id purposes. kinda lame, but it flew to get registration numbers....

good luck in yer quest to find out what ya got.

i can tell you it is a copy/takeoff the old Cobia hull. that was built in Orlando/Sanford Fl. looks to be a super stable boat, but will be under powered with that power plant by todays, standards. throw a 4.3 in it atleast. it's a heavy boat.

that sounds like a major undertakeing goin from an l6 to a v6. + big $'s. and for only 25 or 55 hp extra depending on weather ya get a fuelie or not. + drive gear changes and shaft leangth changes. that's a lot of work. don't look like that type a boat is gonna ever be a speed demon anyways. besides, that l6 has great low end torque. probably need that to get'er up and outa the water on to plane......

obviously my view point is prejudice to l6's. i wonder why. :) my ol l6 powered boat may be slower than my buddys 4.3. but to me, it's like comparein apples to oranges. my 75 l6 powered speedboat vs my buddys 00 4.3, just aint gonna meet todays standards for speed and handleing. the boat design technology just wasn't there yet......

if ya were gonna do something like that. i'd think the ol sayin there's no replacement for displacement would apply. might as well do'er up with a sbc.......

cobia is still using that same basic hull design, on there larger boats. there is a rumor, that someone who had work with Borum Boat Company, went to cobia when they opened and took Borums Design. Borum eventually got in trouble with irs, and is long gone. this design was born in the late 50's early 60's. my dad knew the Borum Bros.
