Hi,

Norwegian made boat, Fjordling 17, still going strong (slightly owerpowered):

These orginal Fjordling 17 boats was made in 1960th - 1970th and is still taken care of by many enthusiasts and is really used as shown in above swedish made video from 2005. Some special with these boats are for example a very well designed hull and they where quality made so they can handle large outboards (without breaking the transom).

Very cool boats...question your choice of overpowering them and the skills of the captains at speed. Way dangerous. Hope your insurance is paid up at all times.

Actually, it is important for speed purposes that they run at those extreme trim levels. See how they carry the bow and reduce the amount of hull in the water. Smart Tabs would make their ride slower, although perhaps safer as well. Normally in a straightaway, a race boat will trim until they minimize the amount of boat in the water and maximize speed, without flipping over backwards. When the turn approaches, they trim in quickly to gain control (although they lose speed), and make the turn and trim out quickly to regain speed.

i got a Fjordling 17 HT myself, and they are concidered the best HT boat ever built and are very highvalued over here.
