I have an old white Chrysler outboard probably 10 - 20 HP from the late 60's - 70's. I can't find any numbers, where do I look? There is no top cover so I don't know the HP. It has electric start and seems to be a long shaft with a huge prop for the motors size. I can send a pic or add here if there was a way. Any ideas how to figure this one out? I have a few part numbers like the starter is 510955 and it has a Magnapower III prestolite control box – any ideas what I have here or where the numbers are?

Thanks Bill

1977. It is a 10 HP motor. I dont think Chrysler ever made a magna3 however they did make a magnapower with an alternator.

THATS WHAT THE BLACK BOX SAYS, MAGNAPOWER III, IT HAS ELECTRIC START AND THE STATOR IS OF THE OUTPUT CHARGING TYPE.

THE MAGNAPOWER BOX IS BAD, SO I'M TOLD AND THE CARB IS GONE. THE ONLY REASON THE ENGINE IS NOT IN USE IS BECAUSE WE COULD NOT FIND THE MAGNA III TO REPLACE. ITS GOING TO BE PARTED OUT AND POSTED ON EBAY.

While parting this out - the technology looked pretty good for 1977, sure seemed fit & funtion was better than the old Mercury's.

Anyways all parts on ebay now
