Hello all,
I have an old Duracraft aluminum boat, and would like some advice on how big a motor I can put on it. There is no tag anywhere on the boat with this information. If it was there, it fell off, or was removed. I have two potential candidates for the boat. A 1962 28HP Johnson, or a 1974 70HP Evinrude.
The boat is about 17 ft long (using the 14 1/2 foot long aluminum on top as a ruler), and reasonably wide. If need be, I can get more exacting measurements. It is the blue and white boat in the picture, and similar to the one in the ad. My first thought was that the 70 would be too big, but I've seen where Mercury tested a Mark 78 on a 14 1/2 foot boat that looks similar to this one (The DuraCraft).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Wayne
