I am reassembling my electric shift gearcase after replacing the seals and a few bearings that went bad. In reassembling, the service manual says to use OMC needle bearing grease to hold needles in place while joining the upper and lower gearcases. Is there an automotive substitute or is OMC needle bearing grease required.
I do need something to hold the needles in place, otherwise they drop out of the race while trying to join the gearcase together, but dont want to use something that while foul up the gearcase oil and don't have 'OMC needle bearing grease' on hand. Thanks for the advice.
