Old Evinrude Year

A friend just gave me an old Evinrude motor and he thinks it is a 6hp 1969. Here is the serial # on the plate on the side of the housing 54026 E 01269 is he correct? Thanks for any help

I suspect the number might really be 5402B which is a 1964 5?hp model.

Thanks for your responce that is the year and now I can look up parts. My friend said the motor started and ran but it got water in lower piston any ideals:

You'll need a new head gasket. Not a hard job at all.

5402 is a 1964 Evinrude 5.5hp. The following "6" is probably a letter (C or G??) If you truly have a 1969 6hp, somebody has pulled a switcheroo on the tag or complete stern bracket.
