I inherited Grandpa's old Evinrude. I cannot identify it though I have tried. I believe it is from the thirties. There is no model # that I can find but the mfg. plate has a serial # 4022345 on it. Is the model # built into the serial #? (model 402, serial 2345 =1931 4hp or model 4022, serial 345 1934 5.1 hp?) Or am I not looking in the right place for the model #? Thankyou for reading post. Thankyou very much if you respond!! Here's a good old motor site: http://www.infoblvd.net/sah/Motors.html

Calicokid, some of the old 30's motors used a different numbering system. I think your is standard though.<br /><br />1934 5.1 HP<br /><br />Evinrude did not use a space bewteen the model and serial number.<br />The model number should be<br />4022<br />Absolute way to be sure is to post at the AOMCI site. The members there can give you a lot of information. Here is a link to their ask a member site.<br /><br /> http://www.aomci.org/askamember/index.html

I checked out the site and asked around. I'm getting the same two scenarios that I listed with the 1931 4hp lightwin model 402 Serial #2345 being the more confident opinion. Thanks for the link, Scoop, I received info on plugs, premix, points, bore and stroke, even the original price ($99.75)!!
