Re: old fuel

It all depends on the age and condition of the fuel when you last ran the motor and if you had added a fuel stabilizer like Stabil Marine or Seafoam in your last tankful. I use the Stabil all the time, keep it on the boat, and when I gas up for the last time I add a bit more than the regular dosage. A fuel/water separating filter mounted on your transom is a good preventive maintenance item. Also a very good idea to drain your carbs before long lay-ups. I call it fuel system preventive maintenance, and it pays big dividends when you get to the lake/river and your motor starts right up and runs like a new one, not to mention all the money you save on repairs or carb cleanings. Good luck!

Re: old fuel

I would drain tank, lines and carb. Fresh fuel with stabilizer and crank her up...maybe you get lucky and don't have plugged carb jets. If carbs are plugged up, you'll know it pretty quickly, shut down motor and remove/clean carbs before a lean fuel mixture can cause poor running and serious mechanical damage. You're probably and hopefully going to be fine on this. Good luck and let us know how it works!
