I've got old metal 5gallon pressure gas tank that has old gas/oil in it. The gas it close to two years old, and the tank is 3/4 full.

I'd like to empty the tank, if I can just get the gas into a bucket (like the ones you use for changeing the oil or a car/truck) I can get rid of it.

Whats the best way to get the gas out of the tank without making a mess?

Set the tank on a table or the tailgate of dads truck.
Use a siphon hose to transfer gas to a bucket on the ground.

You can use a plain piece of plastic tubing, or can buy a cheap siphon at an auto parts store for $5.

It may.
But it is going to be awfully tough to get the siphon started, if it is the standard 50' hose.
Also making it tougher is the large diameter, and the stiffness of the hose will make it hard to handle.

3/8 to 1/2 inch clear plastic tube is about the best. 6 feet long. SHould only cost a buck at a hardware store.
