Old Gas

Hello to all,
I have Pro Craft fish & ski with a 150 hp Black Max on it. It has been sitting for a good while and i'm sure the gas in the tank is bad by now.
So my question is how can I get the old gas out of the tank without any problems and also ensure the tank gets cleaned out properly so I don't have any trouble when I get it back on the water?

Thanks, boo

Re: Old Gas

I drained the old gas from my boat by connecting an outboard fuel hose with no tank or motor attachments on either end to the fuel tank pickup barb. Then ran the other end out the bottom of the hull through the drain hole. Once I pumped the bulb a few times, a siphon was created and the tank drained fully without anymore pumping. Raised the bow up as high as jack would go. FYI, verify the flow direction on the hose because the anti-siphon valve will prevent flow if reversed. The biggest problem that I had was what to do with all that old gas. Lawnmowers don't use much. Good luck!

Re: Old Gas

If it were mine, before I ran it I would check the compression, and if good:

1. Park the boat on a side hill so all the gas goes into the corner under the fill, and siphon off all that I could.

2. Put in carb kits. Needles and seats, as well as the floats are probably ok, just gummed up.

3. Put in a fuel pump kit.

4. Put in a water pump kit.

5. Install a Racor water seperating fuel filter.

Let her rip.

Problem is, if you have a minor fuel problem on one cylinder, you could easily toast that hole before you figure it out.

hope it helps
John.
