I need to see more of it. Does it have a hull ID tag on it somewhere with the serial number? Need more info. :)

Re: Old glassmaster, what is it?

I think it is a Glassmaster Daytona bowrider. I have the version without the walkthrough and mine has a raised, self bailing foredeck. You will probably find that the boat is 17.5 feet long and was made in the early to middle 70s.

If you need to redo the transom, there are two ways to do so without compromising strength. The first (and preferred method) is to remove the cap/splashwell so that you can get at the interior of the transom from above, leaving both the inner and outer glass shell intact. If you do this, it makes a lot of sense to rip the floor out and do the stringers at the same time. A second way is to cut into the very back of the cap and the rear portion pf the splash well - this also allows access to the wood in the transom from above. My transom was repaired this way and, while it is safe, it makes the boat a bit ugly because you have to glass the parts removed back in.

I think you will like this boat. I find that they pound a bit when running into headwind seas but if you angle off about 20 degrees, they are safe and relatively dry. They are also very stable when not underway because of the tri-hull design. I do some photography from my boat and the stability at rest is one of the biggest reasons why I bought it.

BTW, I have a 65hp Johnson on mine and, according to my GPS, it goes 28 mph at WOT with a 15 inch pitch stainless, cupped prop. RPM at that speed is 5,100. The version that I have is rated for up to 130 hp and I would guess that yours is too.
