1958 Johnson outboard 35hp Model # RDEL-19 C, Serial # 1775032. The motor has great compression along with spark. Anyone have any information on the motor would be helpful. Need mostly electrical but any other information would be helpful....

Thanks Bunches

The Rd19 is a 1957 and yes,it is a 35 horse. The 57 and 58 engines are very similar. The main difference is that the 1958 often has a fuel pump instead of a pressure tank setup.
The Seloc handbook for 2 cylinder outboards from 1956 to 1972 has all the electric circuit blue prints. It is a bit hard to find the original wiring harnesses, mostly because they have disintegrated by now,but once you have seen the blue prints you can very easily build one yourself. The solenoid is standard and the electric choke often doubles as the turn of button. There are lots of these engines around, because they are very dependable and they are almost indestructable.

The "L" in the model number means it was originally a long shaft. May or may not still be one. 1957 motors still came standard with pressure tanks. Few came with the optional fuel pump. There is no kill switch on a 1957. The choke is used to stop the motor remotely. Since you will probably have to replace the coils you can easily add a kill switch at that time.

PM me your email address and I'll send you some info.
