I just bought an older 20' center console ocean boat with a 1977 140 hp evinrude. It seems I've had problems from day one with it. It ran good the first trip out but has had intermittent problems the last couple times I had it out. It would run good than start running like crap. The last trip it ran good at first than ran like crap the rest of the day.
The problem now is that there isn't any spark on the port side of the motor. I have good spark on the other two cylinders.
I just bought a new power pack and that didn't help.
I bought a manual and I'm ready to try and fix it but would like a know which direction to go.
Thanks!!!

Jay....check out the timer base assembly. Make sure you got voltage to the pack that tells it when to fire the port side cylinders. The manual should tell ya' how to do it.
