I am about to gain possession of my grandfather's old boat. i know the boat was made by Lone Star Boat Company in Grand Prairie, Texas. It was bought in the 50's, and is a riveted hull. I was wondering if anyone knew if the company was still in business. Also, i was wondering if, since it is a riveted hull and has rubber sanwiched between the two plates, what is the best way to seal the boat? I am going to repaint the outside hull, and I don't know if the paint would be enough to seal the old rubber.

fergulus,

They are no longer in biz.

Seal the boat from the INSIDE using a product called Gluv It.

It is available at:

www.westmarine.com

It is very easy to use and does not smell too bad.

Some of the '50's Lone Star boats are collector's items, especially those with tail fins.

I recall seeing a website with pictures of old Lone Stars. I think there is a link to it on the www.retrocrestliner.com site.

Well, it looks like a late '50's - early '60's Lone Star runabout with a 1957 Evinrude Fastwin 18.
