I have a 1980 Evinrude 150. I have been doing minor work on it for a few months. Yesterday I finished what I thought was going to be the last repair, but noticed a new problem. When the engine is running (on the muffs) it drips water from the bottom of the exhaust cover. Major issue?

Probably not but it should be addressed. Its very simple to change both gaskets and very cheap.

Its hard to tell from here how bad the leak is but water under the cowling is never a good idea.

Good luck!

Re: Old motor, new problem

It is just dripping at idle, but I am guessing that at WOT it would be pouring water out. I have never noticed it before, but I just replaced the deflectors, head gaskets and water jacket (overheating problem and deflectors were blocking water flow). I did not touch those bolts so I don't know why it would have just started doing it. Thanks for the help.
