Any idea where I can't find out more info about my Neptune 500 small outboard. I think its a 1936, not sure. Any parts out there like a carb kit?

Re: OLD NEPTUNE 500

That would be a MightyMite built in the early to mid 70s (they look like antiques). About all you'll find for parts are sparkplugs. They started out being made by Muncie Gearworks (Muncie Transmissions for all you Chevy fans) and Termar Corp toward it's demise around 1975. I have 2. :)

Google MightyMite and you should find a fair amount of information. They're highly sought-after by collectors, but fairly common and not worth much as a result.

Try as I might I couldn't find a Mighty Mite designated a 500.Models I find are AA1 AA1A and later WC1.The Mighty Mite is 17 lbs has a 1 1/2 inch stroke and WC1 is rated at 1.7 hp.Probably uses a Tillotson AJ21A carb.And a Champion J6J(J6C) plug.

Re: OLD NEPTUNE 500

I have one of these Neptune Mighty Mites taht was just givent to me. I would like to find parts to fix it up but I am not having any luck either. That is probably the smallest and lightest gas powered outboards I've ever seen. From what I understand it is around 1.7 hp. The decal is worn where it shows the model number but I can barely make out "Mighty Mig...." on the cover. Is there anywhere else that might have the model number on that motor?

Tom Travis

Re: OLD NEPTUNE 500

It is confusing when you piggyback a post.
Check the carb if it is a Tillotson AJ21A it is probably a WC1 Go to www.aomci.org and post your question I'm sure someone there will help.
Watch ebay for parts or parts motors. The WC1 ran for at least 11 years And the Mighty mite design probably ran almost un changed from the late 40s or the early 50s.

Yes you can get carb repair kits. These motors(at least the two I have had) use chain saw carbs and you can go to google and search for chain saw carb parts, pick one of the suppliers listed (near you if possible) and give them the carb manufacturer and model number( stamped on the carb) and they can supply kits. I have bought two types of kits - one is a complete overhaul kit and the other is a diaphram-strainer gasket kit(much less expensive). The less expensive kit is really all I have ever needed. If you have a chain saw repair place near you they might obtain the kit for you.
Good Luck

I never saw a Mighty Mite called a 500.Neptune did make outboards pre WW2
And post WW2 most of the post war motors were the Mighty Mite
Most were model numbers listed here.
If you go to aomci.org or ebay and look for mighty mite you may find a picture like your motor.Mighty Mite model was basically unchanged through its entire production.
