old outboard identification

I have just gotten an old lower section from an outboard motor from a buddy, it has no motor on it and is probably about 30 inches long total. It has no reverse just a shaft going to the gearbox. The prop is mabe 4 inches diam. It looks to be gas, I don't know if they made electric outboards back in the day, and I,m guessing 1 to 2 hp going by the prop. It does have serial or part numbers on some of the pieces. I was wondering if there was a web link with pics that I might could look at to compare to or look up thoes serial numbers. I will try to post some pics of it. THANKS

There are enough fossils on this board to tell you what you have, but you need to post a couple of images.
