I just purchased a Penta 252 and was told that it is a 1972. Someone hooked the engine cable that goes to the battery up in reverse and burned out a small Inverter or rectifier. There is a 2 prong plug that goes into the side of the engine and it is ok. I need to know what this part is and what it does, also if there is one out there for sale.

Speaking generically it is there to change ac to dc. I think its possible to replace it with a Bridge rectifier from a place like radio shack.
4 taps , 2 for AC in 2 for DC out. Usually they need to be mounted so that heat can be dissipated through the mount.
I forget what size or number but about an inch or so square and a hole in the center to mount it.
Do a search on ebay you'll see dozens of them.I think a 25 amp should be enough.
I've also used them to replace the rectifier in old battery chargers.

That is what I was thinking but I am not an electrician. I will check eBay motors and see what I find. Thank you for the reply.
