Hi all

I have had my old RIB for one month now.

Faults it has are:-

At a decent speed (30 Knots) on rough water it throttles back as though it has a fuel/Loose wire. I have checked fuel etc and all seems OK.

Also Tacho doesn't work and the motor is not charging.

Motor is about circa 86 50 HP Mercury 2 Stroke 4 Cylinder.

Any ideas folks.

Re: Old RIB

Thanks for the info. Had a close look at the rectifier today and noticed that one of the nuts holding down a yellow wire was loose. So I tightened it up.
Then I ran the engine. It still doesn't charge but now the rev counter is sort of working. The engine was running a bit rough and the rev counter was bouncing up and down and not always in line with the sound of the engine. Although it was about in the right engine range.

I've ordered a manual which I am still waiting for. Whilst I'm waiting how do i check the rectifier myself with a multimeter.

Many thanks in advance.

Re: Old RIB

Rectifier Serial Number

Okay so it looks like I might need a new rectifier. Just priced one up in the UK (Not the exact correct one) about £30.

How do I find out the correct part number.
I have no serial number on my engine (Plate has fallen off).

My engine is, I believe, a 1986 Mercury Blueband 2 Stroke 4 Cylinder 50 HP.

Any Help would be appreciated
