I have several older chainsaws (2 homelite and a crafstman) I have read on the net that I can use the perfect mix synthetic oil (don't get it thin) in all of the older saws.
Whats all ya'lls thoughts on this?
the synthetic shouldn't hurt a thing ,personnally i like mixing my own oils with the correct ratio.I just feel it is a piece of mind not to damage anything .

Shouldn't cause you any problems as long as you use the proper ratio. I used a quart of the synthetic put out by Stihl last year in my 30 year old Stihl saws and they are still running fine. I didn't find any improvement over the previous years of running the regular stuff but I don't think the stuff harmed anything. You should be fine. Chief Chief
Just as a side note, I have a Stihl saw that I run Husky oil in because I got a good deal on it. I hadn't run this saw in 4 years. Today I got the saw out, dumped what gas was in it out and replaced with fresh mix. Dang saw started and ran great. I figured the carb would have to come off minimum. Not saying its the saw or the oil, but the combination made me happy today.
