I was given an old Sea King outboard from a friend who knows a guy that knows a guy. You know how it is. Anyway I was wondering if someone could help me out with some info.

Clinton
model# K7515106B
ser#1513218
type# XTV 50575 B

Was wondering the year of the motor. I think I read somewhere that you reverse the first 2 digits of the serial number. If thats the case it would be a 1951. If so it is in really good condition cosmetically. I was told that it doesnt have many hours on and has been sitting in a garage for 25 years.

I have not done anything to it yet. I am going to check the plug this weekend and fiddle with it a little. Any suggestions would king greatly appreciated.

What fuel mix ratio should I be using?

Thank you in advance.

Re: Old Sea King help...

Its not a 51, SeaKings were made by Gale in '51, I wouldn't know but if you posted a photo or two I'm sure someone would be able to figure it out.

77,78,79 7.5hp.We see a lot of these given away.
Clinton has been out of business circa mid 80s.They vibrate, are noisy, underpowered and unreliable. If you can make it go with little investment sell it and put the money toward an Evinrude/Johnson 5,5.5,6,7.5,8 or 10hp from the 50s to the 80s.All will be much more reliable, smoother, quieter, and faster.Routine E/J parts are available right here at iboats as well as BRP dealers.
