Just inherited two motors 1. sea king model 84GG9007A SER#172256 ,no spark.. Where can I find parts ? IBOATS say they don,t carry them.. 2. A Sea King Mod.VWB21009A 07X Ser#10501 (best as i can make out , scratches) again parts, no spark. What year would this be and what would be the oil mix ? Looking forward to fixing them and getting out for some fishing this season

Re: Old Sea King< Help !

Monkey wards were nice enough to code the year in their numbers. The 84GG is a 1948 (84-reversed) and was built by Gale Products Division of OMC. The other one is a 1970 (07X-reversed) and was built by Chrysler. iboats has some Chrysler stuff, but parts in general are getting harder and harder to find.

I assume (dangerous) the Chrysler is 50:1 mix. The old Gale is 16:1

90% of no-spark troubles on that old Gale model is worn/dirty/contaminated points. New ones are rare and expensive. Fortunatly, they can usually be salvaged by taking them apart and degreasing them and polishing the contacts individually. Pay attention and don't lose any of the many spacers and insulators, and do one set at a time so you have a sample to look at for reassembly.
