Hello,
I have the same problem as another person with the cable and drum system where my old cable broke. Can you please clarify on the winding the new cable. Do you wind one side clockwise and the other counter closewise or both the same direction? Also - once the cable is wound around the drum - you run it back through the pulleys and motor and finally to the tension springs. Do you leave any slack inthe cable or should it be tight?

Re: Old Steering System w/ Pulleys and Drum

should be a hole in the drum to run the cable
through and cable wraps in opposite directions
around drum. once drum is wrapped a few times
each way, then run through pullys to motor very
TIGHTLY... should have 2 tension springs in the
corners to give a little slack. make sure drum
and steering wheel are tight and level, it can
unwrap easily if it's not. losing control at WOT
is very dangerous! if you can afford the extra $,
I sure would upgrade to a newer steering system.
good luck,
M.Y.
