Old Style vs New Style Rear motor mounts.

2010 Marine Power 350 5.7L Alpha 1. Having the engine out, the original motor was from 1988. I am going to replace th rear motor mounts on the bell housing. 2 Questions. Is there any advantage to the new style mounts without the double wound washers? And, Is there a shimming process for the old style mounts? The new style mounts can be shimmed with a washer. Can the new style mounts be shimmed in some way also?

Sorry, Third part of the question was unclear. Is there a way to shim the old style rear mounts. I need a little more adjustment room on the front mount to align correctly. Otherwise my front mounts bottom out on the lower nut.
