I have 2 140 HP Evinrude loopers 1989 year I think on my boat. One engine the tach works (starboard)on but the other engine the tach don't work.(port). I've changed the rectifier regulator.. Not getting any pulses from the gray wire on the port motor.. I have hooked the tach up at the motor to eliminate wiring harness issues.. Tach also works on starboard engine so I know its ok.. Next thing is Im changing out the old gages with new. Now the starboard tach don't work. I hooked up the old tach along with the new tach and can jumper a wire from the pull terminal on both tachs and the new tach will work.. Gray to pull or S terminal , ground wire to ground terminal strip negative side and ignition terminal to ignition. I have also jumpered from the hot on the terminal strip to ignition post on the tach. I've tried all I know to try to get this new tach working but its kicking my but.. The old tach works fine hooked up with Gray to S terminal , Ground terminal to ground and ignition terminal to ignition.. Any help would be surely appreciated.. I think the stator may be bad on the port engine but I still have to get this tach issue solved....
