I am getting into fishing again after about 25-35 years. I have an old Minn-Kota bow mount that is called a 65m and I would like to find out how many pound thrust it has, this is a small transom mount and I think Minn Kota makes a big 65 pound thrust motor now that is called a 65M too? I also need to know what bow mount bracket I need for an old M-K 565W because I let the bracket go with an old boat I got rid of. I find it hard to find information about the old trolling motors. All I can find is info. on new ones. If the old ones won't do the job for me I might just buy the newer more powerful ones.

Re: Old Trolling motors info?

I guess the question would be how did the motor perform on whatever boat you had it on before. Since we have no idea what boat you had before and what you have now it is difficult to predict performance. Goodle the web with the model and serial number. If it used a single 12 volt battery it is definitely not a 65# thrust. Anything over 55# is 24 volts these days.

Re: Old Trolling motors info?

I found part of the info I was looking for, on the small trolling motor the 65m is a 28# thrust motor. Years ago I added a home made waterproof forward-reverse switch that covered the data plate in the area where it told the amount of thrust. I know now that the new
$99 ones would only give me 2 more pounds of thrust. Now all I have to do is find a bow mount bracket that will fit the old 565W. Thanks for the reply Silvertip
