Still trying to get the old 50 horse to charge the battery so I checked the rectifier that I installed last year. It was bad again. While checking the 2 yellow wires from the stator I noticed that one of them had that green corrosion above the terminal end. The wires ran up through a piece of black tubing so I cut it off and what I found was that both wires were corroded and the insulation had fallen off up to about 1 1/2" from the top. I ran each up through a piece of 5/16" shrink tubing to where it covered the bare wires and taped them at the bottom. They are now separated anyway. I tested the stator and it tested ok for resistance. I don't have time to change the rectifier before we go out again but I figure I need a new rectifier and a new stator so that I can get decent yellow wires. I took a picture of another wire that is corroded and marked the end with a piece of white tape to make it easier to tell which one it is. Can you tell me what this wire does? Thanks
