I have been looking for a used 4 stroke kicker for my 22' Islander and was giving serious consideration to an 87 Honda Bf15a. I was into a local marine store and while talking with the staff about motors he said to avoid the early honda's as they can no longer provide the electronics for them. He said they have motors just sitting because the manufacturer of the parts is out of business. He claims this would apply to motors made till about the mid 90's. Can anyone in the know confirm this??? My luck I would pick up a good used motor and a week later the ignition would crap out on me!

Re: older honda parts availability??

I do'nt know how the Canadian market works, but as for the American market go'es those parts are for the most part readilly available. In my opinion you are considering a nice, forgiving, engine. If you do'nt have any dealer support in your area ,that might be something to consider but all in all I much prefer the 15a over the 15d.
