Hi all

I am new to the boards and new to working on outboards. I have a few questions and I am sure many more to come. I recently found and purchased a ?68 9.5hp Evinrude. I also found and purchased the service manual for it on ebay and is on its way.
Model #9822e
Serial # E05951

So, I am re-installing the tiller arm from a remote setup. Is there any trick tips to getting it adjusted right in relationship to the throttle?

Also I am having trouble crossing these parts to a Serria or whatever number or even locating them. Any ideas? What is a good supplier to buy parts from?

Carburetor kit original #3802048
Thermostat original #0378065
Fuel pump assembly original # 0382224

Thanks for any help

Re: Older outboard questions

I just put a new Carb. kit in my 9.5 this winter and was surprised the new float was still cork. I expected it to be a synthetic material. I also did my 4hp and the new float was synthetic.

One thing with the 9.5 carb kit there is a revision in the parts where the needle is now attached to the float via that light wire connector. The old needle just free floated against the float brass. Big improvement I think. Rick.

You are converting a 9? from a remote setup? The remote kit for that motor was elaborate and fairly rare. Is your hardware like the attachment below?

Attached is a picture I found on the 'net. I'd like to give credit where due but at this time I can't find the link where I got it.
