anyone have the older style model P270 blue and bulldozer yellow 18v drill with nicad P100 battery?? The ones that Home Depot and Lowes put right out front on display for Christmas presents or black fri sales. I have one that I dont use all that much so the battery is usually dead.Time to replace the battery again and was wondering if there is a newer Lithium battery that will fit.I can't seem to find one.Wondering if anyone has tried the same?? I have an old set of those too. I bought new 18V green tools to expand my collection and all the batteries are interchangeable. The new Lithium 18V batteries fit and work great in the older tools. The newer charger will charge both the NiCad and LiOn batteries. The older charger will not charge the new LiON batteries, though.

I can't say about the Ryobi batteries, but I have bought several Dewalt aftermarket batteries that work just as good as the Dewalt and are a fraction of the price.

Many (most?) brand drills can be adapted to fit Porter Cable batteries or any other popular brand battery.

Do a Google search for dewalt battery to makita cordless drill adapter or whatever battery/drill combos you want

That way if Charlie has ryobi tools, if you have another brand, the adapter would let him use battery he has. I have 3 cordless tool brands. If battery goes kaput, I'll buy porter cable adapter. Can't seem to kill those batteries, even w severe neglect

Ebay has all sorts of adapters out there. I can vouch for the aftermarket Dewalt batteries - I have several and they work just fine in my Dewalt tools.
