I recently purchased a very reasonably priced boat, with a problem. The 74 mercruiser ford 351 has water in the oil pan, milky looking & the previous owner said the he winterized it wrong, by just pulling the hoses off the end caps, dumping in some anti freeze and closing the cover, thats it no draining of any kind. He stated that he started the motor, but shut it down when he noticed water coming out of the valve cover oil cap where oil goes & rough running.I have checked the freeze plugs and they seem to be intact, I also found the valve to drain the water from the motor, its a ball valve that has ben plumbed into drain the water out & when i opened it, water did flow. My question is could you advise me as to a starting point of things to check, to find out why water has found its way to the oil pan. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I've worked on several cars, but this is a lil different animal. Thanks to you all!!!!!!!
