I just purchased a used Oliver outboard motor from an auction and do not have any idea if it runs as I just bought it and brought it home today and was looking at it. From some research I have decided that it is a Model J that is 6 HP with a serial number 107642. I have a few questions about this motor that I can not find on my own.

1. The spark plug is a Champion J-8J and I can not seem to find any of these and was curious what the equivilent would be by todays standards?
2. As far as the rewind for the pull start, where could I find one of those?
3. A fuel to oil mixture would be great as well.
4. Any other information that you can provided would be very helpful in getting this motor back operational.

Fuel mix is 16:1,Plug was originally J8JM J8C should work though I don't know what the M stands for and never saw a plug number
like that. 55 was model J2 5.5 hp. with 3,4,5,6 for the following years.@ 6hp.Point gap is .018.
Oliver is decended from the Chris Craft outboards that were discontinued C. 1953.
